5G NR RedCap optimized for IoT

Taurus is a state-of-the-art 5G NR chipset platform that also supports 4G LTE. It is specifically tailored for 5G IoT applications, leveraging Sequans’ extensive two-decade experience in cellular modem and semiconductor development. The first chipset in the Taurus series, the TaurusLT, is introducing 5G NR to Sequans’ portfolio by offering support for 5G NR RedCap (reduced capability) with a fallback to LTE Cat 4.

The introduction of TaurusLT broadens the scope of cellular IoT applications, offering a cost-effective and future-proof solution for current LTE Cat 4 applications. The System-on-Chip (SoC) features a dual-core application processor, which can support edge AI applications. It also boasts a wide array of data interfaces, facilitating seamless integration with a variety of external hosts, peripherals and devices.

The Taurus platform encompasses chipsets for chip-on-board designs, carrier-certified modules in diverse form factors, and module reference designs for custom modules. This comprehensive offering ensures that Taurus can cater to a wide range of needs in the cellular IoT space.
