With Monarch, Sequans redefined the LPWA landscape by launching in 2016, the world’s first LTE-M chip. This groundbreaking innovation laid the foundation for the first LTE-M devices and was quickly adopted by leading global operators including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, NTT DoCoMo, and KDDI.

Building on this legacy, Monarch 2, introduced in 2020, marked a major leap forward. It delivers ultra-low power consumption, supports dual-mode LTE-M and NB-IoT, and achieves data rates of up to 1.1 Mbps uplink and 590 kbps downlink. With its high level of integration, Monarch 2 simplifies IoT device design and significantly reduces cost.

Looking ahead, Monarch 3 is set to usher in a new era of innovation by combining 5G NR eRedCap and LTE-M in a single, highly integrated chip—pushing the limits of low-power, wide-area IoT connectivity even further.

LTE-M, NB-IoT & GNSS single-chip purpose-built for LPWA applications, such as smart meters, asset trackers, and other low-data IoT devices. Monarch 2 brings significant advancements, including industry-leading ultra-low deep sleep mode at 1μA and a high level of integration that simplifies design and reduces overall system cost.

Monarch 3 SQN4430

Currently in development, Monarch 3 builds on Sequans’ deep expertise to deliver the most advanced cellular chip for LPWA applications. This next-generation will support 5G NR eRedCap and LTE-M into a single, ultra-optimized chip—setting a new benchmark for low-cost, low-power, size and robust connectivity.
