Insights from Real-World Applications

The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the industry by offering a multitude of benefits that transform how companies operate. One of the major advantages is the significant improvement in productivity. With connected sensors, machines and equipment can now be monitored in real-time, enabling proactive maintenance management. This reduces unexpected downtime and optimizes resource utilization, leading to greater operational efficiency.

Moreover, IoT facilitates process automation by eliminating repetitive tasks and allowing employees to focus on higher-value activities. Continuous data collection and analysis also enable better understanding of machine and process performance, paving the way for continuous improvements. Companies can thus adjust their operations in real-time to maximize production.

IoT also enhances inventory and supply chain management by providing greater visibility into material and product flows. This allows for better planning and reduces inventory-related costs. Finally, the integration of IoT in the industry supports better decision-making through access to accurate and real-time data, which ultimately strengthens companies’ competitiveness in the global market.

A concrete example is Webdyn, which developed an innovative sensor capable of detecting faults in a series of EDF pylons. This product, based on Sequans’ Monarch GM02S module and developed as part of the 5G_mMTC program funded by France and BPI, is also associated with an advanced graphical interface. This interface allows the management of a large number of sensors simultaneously across a wide geographic area. It provides a precise real-time overview, significantly reducing operating costs and intervention time. The savings in operating costs are substantial, as efficiency and responsiveness are greatly improved by this technology.
